CPU_Usage Not Defined Fix!
-
This is a common GPC compile error in Cronus Zen Studio. CPU_usage not defined means the script is using the name CPU_usage (as a variable, constant, or similar) but it was never declared.
How to fix:
-
Open the .gpc file in Zen Studio.
-
Look at the exact line number shown in the compile error.
-
Search the script for CPU_usage (and similar spellings like cpu_usage, CPU_Usage, peak_cpu, etc.).
-
Common solutions:
-
Missing declaration → Add near the top of the script (with the other variables):
-
Copy-paste / incomplete script → Re-download the original script from a trusted source. Many community scripts that show “Peak CPU Usage” in an OLED menu calculate it themselves (or the feature was never finished).
-
Case sensitivity → GPC is case-sensitive. CPU_usage ≠ cpu_usage.
-
There is no special conversion process. A .ZIP for a Cronus Zen script is simply a compressed archive that usually contains one or more .GPC files (plus sometimes a readme or other assets). You just extract it.
-
Additional Steps
1. Download the .ZIP Save it somewhere easy to find (e.g., Desktop or Downloads).
2. Extract the archive
• Windows: Right-click the ZIP → Extract All… (or use 7-Zip / WinRAR).
• macOS: Double-click the ZIP.
• Linux: Right-click → Extract, or use unzip filename.zip.
3. Look inside the extracted folder You should see one or more files ending in .gpc. That is the actual Cronus Zen script (plain-text GPC source code). There may also be a .txt or .pdf readme with button combos and instructions.
4. Load it in Zen Studio
• Open Zen Studio (or Zen Studio Live).
• Connect your Cronus Zen via the PROG port.
• Go to the Compiler tab.
• Drag-and-drop the .gpc file into the editor (or File → Open).
• Click Compile (or Build).
• Switch to the Programmer tab, drag the compiled script into an empty memory slot, then Program Device / write to the Zen.
